Their recent film, 'Race' has surely raced past the winning line and has been declared a big hit. Only time will tell whether it goes on to become a bigger hit than expected!
Happy days are back again for the director-duo as after the average success of their past films, 'Aitraaz' and '36 China Town', they are back with a bang with the fast paced thriller, 'Race'. Even after all the success, the directors remain deep-rooted to the ground and never go gaga about their achievements.
On asked about a section of reviews maligning the film, Abbas says, "For some critics it is only hardcore art films that count most.
Now it's their choice if they look down upon commercial 'masala' cinema. For us, audience entertainment has always stood first and in RACE too, we wanted to give audience a shock treatment, though in an entertaining way.
If a couple of critics were expecting anything different from a suspense-action-drama like RACE, one can't do much, isn't it?"
When asked about the stupendous response the film has got at the box office, a very humble Abbas commented, "It is great to see the film performing well over.
I am told that the opening weekend has broken records all over while the weekdays have sustained excellently all over too. We are glad that mass as well as class audience are appreciating the flick".
