Rani Mukherjee today said she would be filing a plea in the Bombay High court, challenging the decision of the Maharashtra government to take over the 11,000 sq ft of farmland that she had bought in Shirdi in Ahmednagar district in 2005.

The actress had purchased the land, unaware that it could not be sold as the state government had leased it to a farmer, sources close to Rani told the press.

She had failed to transfer the ownership to her name despite paying Rs 1.32 lakh for registration.

Rani had paid Rs 33 lakh for the land in december 2005, without verifying the documents.
