Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna' today described Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the
'Mahanayak of the country' and asked the people not to involve him in the debate of birth place
(janmabhoomi) and working place (karmbhoomi).
In an editorial, titled 'Maharashtrat he kadhi ghadel' (when this can happen in Maharashtra), Mr
Thackeray stated that if the rulers of the state forward any development proposal to Mr Bachchan, he
would definitely accept.
However, this would not be appreciated by Congress President Sonia Gandhi who is not on good terms
with Mr Bachchan, the edit said, while reminding that Amitabh was the Congress MP during her
husband late Rajiv Gandhi's tenure as Prime Minister.
On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati was trying to create trouble for the
superstar, he wrote.
Dwelling on the Hogenkkal issue, he said for the pride of their state, all the South Indian stars came on
to the streets. In Maharashtra, barring late Dada Kondke and Ramesh Deo, no one ever came forward
to extend support to his party.
The edit congratulated Tamil actor Rajanikant, who was borned in Maharashtra as Shivaji Gaikwad but
remained loyal to Tamil Nadu (karmbhoomi).
