Let's check out what the actress have to say about her new political role and also find out what she feels about her long journey in the tele-world...
Q. Your character in Kya Dil Mein Hai...
A. I'm playing the role of a politician who's also a business woman. There is some suspense element associated with my entry in the show. Rajeshwari is the name of my character. She is a strong and powerful politician and wants her daughter Devi (Papiya Sen Gupta) to step in and take over her legacy.
Q. Is it a cameo or a full-fledged role?
A. It was designed to be a cameo one. But again, in daily soap you never know when a cameo becomes a full fledged role and vice-versa.
Q. Is your character inspired by someone in politics?
A. It is not inspired by any real politician or such. It is an original character being created by the writer and has no resemblance to anyone.
Q. Did you have to prepare yourself for this role?
A. No. In fact I never make prior preparations for any role I play.
Q. Earlier serials, based on politics, have not done well...
A. First of all this serial is based on human relationship and not politics. Here I'm playing a very strong character of a politician who doesn't bring out her emotions in public. It's just a track in the serial and not the main concept.
Q. What kind of roles you feel comfortable playing, a negative or positive?
A. I am comfortable playing any role which excites me. The characterisation has to be good.
Q. How would you describe your journey in television?
A. It has been a wonderful journey for me. I have nothing to regret about because I think I am one of those actresses who have got a range of characters in a very short span on television.
I am happy because when I meet people I find them always looking forward to see my characters on television. I think, with so many choices in the industry, if people are still longing to see you on television doing something different that in itself is a plus point for any actress.
Q. Your other projects...
A. I am doing Kasturi and Kya Dil Main Hai for Balaji. Apart from those, I am doing Kashmakash aired on Doordarshan, a Tamil film called Sattyam with GK Films who in the south are in the lines of Yash Chopra.
Again, I am staging a play called Misal Pao. These are the four things which have kept me really going. And I also have to take care of my dance academy which has nine branches in Mumbai.
