Move over Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. The art film makers` brigade has zeroed in on Shilpa Shetty. `It`s difficult to sell your film if you don`t have a saleable star, states Aruna Raje, who has roped in the actress for her next film.
But why Shilpa? What credentials does she have to make it to the top category of `star actresses`? The director is ready with an explanation, "She has a gorgeous body and is improving as an actress, in addition to being commercially a hot favourite." If so be the case, how about a Helen Brodie or a Diana Hayden for your film, Ms. Raje? But the best answer comes from the actress when she is asked about her sudden new-found interest in off-mainstream cinema: "I am growing as a performer and graduating to doing better things in life - like for instance designing my own clothes, doing my make-up and now this film."
If you are wondering what growth the Mangalorean actress is referring to, don`t look for any enlightenment - for all you know she could be talking about shifting from her ground floor apartment to the eleventh one!
