Aamir Khan and wife Reena Dutta made news this month for the most unexpected of reasons. There was a strong rumour that the two were on the verge of a split. Just about everybody was agog. How could Mr Perfect of Bollywood falter? That too in matters of matrimony! Isn`t Aamir called a `family` man after all?

A concerned father, Tahir Hussain, issued statements vehemently denying the impending separation. He stated that Reena and children have only temporarily moved to another flat as their house was under repair.But insiders insist that the unfortunate event was waiting to happen. More than the fact that Aamir is an alleged philanderer, it`s the attitudinal differences between Aamir and his wife that have taken their toll on the relationship. They aren`t the ideal Bollywood couple they have been made out to be for the past 16 years.

Aamir is keen on enjoying the good things that come with Bollywood success. Reena, on the other hand, is a no-nonsense middle-class Indian woman absolutely ill at ease with the excesses of Bollywood. It is this gap that has underpinned their quarrels and bickerings. Rather unfortunate!
