Remember Bambai se aaya mera dost dost ko salaam karo in Aap Ki Khatir. 20 years later Bappi-da has done a rollicking re-mix of his own song in his own voice. In fact Bappi the singer is today more popular than Bappi the composer.

Recently Bappi sang 'Mumbai Nagariya' for Vishal-Shekhar and 'Ek lo ek muft' for A. R. Rahman.

Says Bappi-da, "It's all fate. My father Aparesh Lahiri was a known composer of his time. Today my son Bappa is also composing. So it's three generations of Lahiris in music.

And do you know, Lataji sang for my father, then for me. And now she may sing for my son. What more do I want?"
