"I played a really chichora and skittish guy in London who grabs and kisses women all the time.
I did Hanste Hanste because the producer was Tony who had made such films as Mr Natwarlal in the past. When I heard my role I did have reservations about the kissing...I've never done anything like this before.
But I had a triple role in the film. That was the temptation, not the kissing. Believe me at this stage of my career I don't need such cheap thrills."
What did Rajpal's wife have to say about her husband's ongoing kissing spree in Hanste Hanste?
The comic actor laughs uncomfortably. "I've been traveling for the last three months. I haven't really had the opportunity to sit her down and ask her how she feels about it.
But I did tell her that I was doing a film where I play this sleazy guy who goes around kissing girls. It's okay. Because it was the character. I was doing it with 40 people watching me on the sets. So I had no opportunity to feel anything."
Rajpal has now sworn off smooching on screen. "All this kissing and flirting is not for me. My audience expects a different kind of entertainment from me.
I'm going to be very careful in the future. I'm selecting projects very carefully. Out of the 75 subjects I heard in the last three months I've selected just one. It's a film called Kushti with wrestler Khali.
I've a really beautiful role. From now on I only want do films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Main Meri Patni Aur Wah and Kushti. And yes, no more lead roles for me. I'm happy doing what suits me."
