Debutante actress Gauri Karnik, who has got a "fantastic break" in Tanuja Chandra`s Sur opposite Lucky Ali, can`t stop raving about her co-star. "He is amazingly talented. He was such a good support throughout the making of the film," she gushes.
The actress, trained in Hindustani Classical music, isn`t banking heavily on the box-office fate of Sur. She has been rejecting offers from television left right and centre. But if her debut film bombs she might have to go right back to the sall screen. Currently on a promotional tour of the metros, Karnik has her priorities right though. Apart from the occasional hug she gave to her pretty co-star Simone Singh for the benefit of the satellite channels and the perfunctory "I-am-doing-fine" smile to Chandra, she chose to follow her Lucky like the proverbial lamb. Despite having a confident disposition, she would look at Ali whenever a scribe asked her a somewhat tricky query.
Looking up to a senior performer is fine, Gauri. But did you know that your so called role model is a glum, temperamental 42 year old has-been who is having a final go at stardom?
