So he left for a weekend in Goa, returned to Mumbai for a success bash with producer Vipul Shah and director Anees Bazmi on Monday evening and left the same night for Monte Carlo.
Phew!
Akshay has a lot to smile about. Not just his film's sucesss or his little son's excitement about his Da(that's what Aarav calls Akshay)'s latest film.
Most of all Akshay rejoices in the love that the Bachchans are showering on him from thousands of miles away by celebrating Akshay's Singh Is Kinng song on stage.
Ironically, Akshay's sleepy and tired son Aarav missed the climax of his dad's new blockbuster.
"Aarav never stays up beyond 10.30 pm. But he watched Singh Is Kinng till he could, almost till the end. Then the poor fellow couldn't stay awake. He fell asleep in my lap. Doesn't matter.
He'll have lots of occasion to catch up with the film later, " said the elated Akshay hours before he left with his wife Twinkle and son Aarav to Monte Carlo for fifteen days.
"I think I've earned my holiday. I was so nervous and tense before the release I couldn't sleep.
Every time a release is around the corner I put the desktop globe in front of my wife and tell her to pick a destination for a holiday if the film clicks, I told my wife if my new film is a hit I'll take her to Monte Carlo. If it doesn't work we'll have to make do with Mahabaleshwar, " he jokes.
Akshay Kumar has much reason to be happy and proud. The Big B, whom Akshay has pointedly described as the real King of Bollywood, has included the title song of Singh Is Kinng in his repertoire for the Unforgettable concerts.
This conscious effort to include Akshay in the Bachchans' global concerts is being seen by many industry watchers as a tentative merger between two of Bollywood's most powerful entertainment units.
Hours before leaving with his wife and son Akshay says emotionally, "I know about Amitji singing the Singh Is Kinng song. It happened after the Toronto concert where I was on stage with the Bachchans."
So could it be because of Akshay's enthused performance at Toronto that the Big B decided to incorporate Akshay's song into his repertoire? In the 30 years that the mega-star has been performing life he has never jammed to another actor's song before.
"Really?" Akshay sounds truly surprised. "That's what makes him the real King Of Bollywood. His generosity of spirit, his energy level and his graciousness. All of us who came into the industry after Amitji have a lot to learn from him."
When told about Akshay's kingly crown the Big B said from Atlantic City, "Akshay is far too generous and kind. His current status is a remarkable lesson in hard work and self-improvement. To have done it under the extremely extenuating circumstances that he has faced, is even more creditable."
Big B confirms that Akshay's Singh Is Kinng song is indeed a part of his stage repertoire. "Yes, when I'm jamming with the band on stage during our concerts one of the items I sing is 'Singh Is Kinng'. It's great fun."
