Aamir Khan has done it again. After the thunderous applause he received last year for Lagaan, the star actor is slowly but steadily making his presence felt on the international cinema scene. At the 55th Locarno Film Festival, where he was a member of the jury, Aamir not only learnt about "what goes on in the minds of panelists while reviewing a film`s merits" but he also charmed everybody with his easygoing manner and honest admission of his country`s obsession with fantasy.
So grand was the reception meted out to him that it almost looked unbelievable. One person who can`t stop raving about him is the Bosnian director Cedomir Kolar, who was one of the many who took to him instantaneously and before even the Khan knew what was happening, finalised him for his next film on `ethnic violence in the US`.
Isn`t it ironical that one of India`s greatest success stories may win accolades everywhere but land up in a `no man`s land` personally on the home front. Stories of his female fans mobbing Aamir in New York and the actor having a field day meeting up curvaceous beauties seem to be adding credence to the rumours of marital discord back home.
