This college-goer loves physiology amongst all her subjects and now playing the mentally challenged character, she hopes to know more about the subject. She speaks on her challenging character, her friends and what's next she is planning to do.
Q. What challenges you encountered while playing the character of a mentally challenged girl?
A. Umm...I was a little nervous at the beginning when the role was offered to me. But the production house, Rose movies, helped me a lot and even the channel have done a lot of research for my role.
Q. What research do you mean to say and what kind of preparations you made?
A. I was shown the cases of the people who are mentally challenged, some print outs and all. There are people who are like Urmi, the character I am playing. I too know some people like this in real so it helped me a lot.
Q. Have you met some people like this before shooting?
A. I have not met any one recently but I know few people like that. Some where down the line I think I have the idea to go with it.
Q. Ok tell us something about your real life character?
A. I have been in Mumbai since thirteen years and when I started acting I was in school at that time and it was like a hobby for me.
So I think that is the reason I did one show at a time along with proceeding with my studies. Now I am in college and have little more time and now that I have taken acting seriously so I think it is the right time to start something seriously.
And when you have something like this serial Aathwa Vachan, which is different and you know that you have a challenge on you, I think this is a best thing to do.
Q. How old are you?
A. I am 17 years old and I am in Mithibhai College studying arts.
Q. How difficult is it to manage acting and studies together?
A. I will not lie and would like to say that it is difficult because now that I am in 12th standard, I have to take studies seriously but when you have a good offer like this you can't say no to it.
Q. You always wanted to be an actor?
A. Honestly ever since my childhood days, I always wanted to do journalism. But at the same time I loved acting too.
Q. Your parents have given you all the support?
A. To be very frank, it is because of my parents that I am here today. Honestly they have always given my studies the first preference but they have also given me all their support.
Q. Since you are too young so does your mom accompanies you to the sets?
A. Many a times, in fact she comes along when it gets too late or when there is something very important and at times when I am too nervous and can't get along. So that's how it is.
Q. In the age, when it is time to move around and have blast, you are busy working. Do you feel that you are missing something?
A. Honestly I don't think I am missing anything because I am not working 24X7. Rose movies is being very kind to me and does not make me to slog. I get my regular off, I go to college, I go for movies with friends. Recently I saw Bachna ae Haseenoo. So I don't think I am missing out of anything.
Q. Don't you think you will be taking over as a lead character after few days in this serial?
A. To be very honest I do take over later as a lead character.
Q. Is it difficult to handle fame for you at this early stage and have your friends told you that you have lost touch with them?
A. No I don't think so I have lost touch with my friends or that I have become arrogant and if I do so I will get a bash from my mom actually. I don't think star tantrum comes in my way as my friends treat me as a normal person and we are the same and hang around very often.
Q. Are they proud of you and do they treat you like a star?
A. I hope they are proud with whatever little I have done but they don't treat me as a star. For them I am the same. I don't know but may be they are very proud of me and praises me from behind.
Q. What else you want to do next?
A. I want to do saas-bahu serials but at the same time I understand that I am too young for it. But I would love to act in one. I also want to cry. - Sabir Rahman
