Earlier this week the team of the underwater action film Blue which is shooting in Phuket decided to cruise down to the island off the coast of Phuket where Danny Boyle shot his Leonardo di Capario blockbuster The Beach.
The expensive shoot required the entire team to be constantly on its toes to catch all panoramic action before the short stint was over.
However Man proposes and then you know what God does.
"You can say that again, " chuckles Zayed from Phuket. "The heavens decided to piss on us. Man. It rained so hard we could hardly shoot. We came back from the island without shooting.
The producers are now trying to get permission to return. We just have to wait.I'm personally very disappointed because The Beach is one of my favourite films and I was looking forward to doing my own DiCaprio."
The necessary permissions are now being sought. In the maewnhile Zayed's bonding with Sanjay Dutt grows. "He keeps warning me against doing all those stunts. Says it's finally not worth it. Kya Karen dil hai ki manta nahin. Sanjay Dutt reminds me of my dad (Sanjay Khan)."
The Sanjay Dutt-Akshay Kumar-Lara-Zayed Khan underwater adventure thriller Blue has had more mishaps misadventures and missed cues happening on location than ever before.
Every member of the cast has been through one catastrophy or another, Zayed Khan being the most accident prone.
Just two weeks ago he plunged out of a highrise for an action scene in Bangkok and missed his cue crashing into the windshield of a car. Now Zayed has hurt his hand.
Though he promised his parents he won't do anything dangerous again, earlier this week Zayed and the other male stars of Blue did a hugely dangerous mobike stunt through the streets of Phuket that could've ended in sheer calamity.
Says Zayed, "I thought I'd keep this a surprise and just give my parents the shock of their life at the premiere. But I guess not. Yeah, Sanju Sir, Akshay and I did this mo-bike chase here in Phuket. I'm a huge bike fan. And we got these really cool Ducatti 999 racers. And man. Did we race!"
Apparently the bikes were speeding at spound-deying speed and far exceeding the high-risk zone.
"It was dangerous. I've to admit that, " confesses Zayed.
"We were going under trucks over cars. We sped through this vast pineapple field...It was awesome! It's arguably the most dangerous stunt ever performed in our movies. I know my parents will blow their top when they see it. But what to do? I can't help it. I'm a a sucker for speed.
It's in my genes. My father says I'm as stubborn as a mule. I'd just the opposite of what he asks me to. Maybe he should now try telling me to do all the stunts I can. Ha ha."
