At a time when filmmakers are dealing in action here's one director who dares to be different with his debut venture Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi. Kaushik Ghatak who has dabbled with serials like Kyon Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi and Shhhhh Koi Hai has made this family entertainer based on a love story.

"It's a Rajashri film and keeping in mind the films that they make I have woven this film too. It is about a middle class girl Isha Koppikar who is a folk singer she comes from a humble background and has a house with a courtyard and a tulsi.

She lights a lamp near the tulsi everyday. Sonu Sood is a rich boy from the same town and a carefree character. He is a ghazal singer who gets inspired even by the raindrops on the leaves. Their songs bring them together.

They are engaged but cannot get married for 12 years and how they wait for each other. Their love is beyond kisses, chocolates and flowers. For them love is not putting arm in arm" reveals Kaushik

When asked would the younger generation identify with such love? The director answers "I am sure the younger generation will realize that love is an emotion which is not seen or heard. It has to be felt.

I am sure they will identify. When I narrated the subject to the younger members of my family, they simply loved it. I think girls of today identify with the Tulsi plant too. My wife is young and she prays to Tulsi even today."

Isha Koppikar has had the image of a item girl and Sonu Sood has always been an action hero. This is the first time that the pair has performed an out and out love story.

"They are excellent in the film, " says Kaushik. "We didn't want anyone with the star baggage neither did we want any newcomers we wanted mature actors and they have done justice to the role. Isha Koppikar was Sooraji's first choice, " reveals the director.

Having dabbled in love stories on the small screen the director has once again dealt with the love story on celluloid too. Is this an extension of the serials that you did we ask him.

"It's not an extension but a different platform. Thematically speaking my serials and film speak of a woman's journey. They dealt with the same morals. Somehow, I have always felt that there is lack of appreciation for women.

She has always been the embodiment of love but has not been given due respect. I have always held women in high esteem. I will continue to do so through my serials and films, " he rattles off.
