Karnik is quick to clarify, "It is absolutely not. Let me make it clear that no part of the film is an 'inspiration' from anything else! It's completely out of life's experiences.
The only similarity could be motorcycles perhaps! But nothing more. We had got a great offer from a car company for in-film advertising but roadies don't really travel across the countryside in a car.
Especially with the youth, a bike is more the choice of vehicles with a back pack and all gear to explore. So these guys in the film are the typical rich guys with a secured family business they know they have to handle.
They are studying in Delhi but whiling time away, unclear of their goal. They know they have to study in the US for their masters but have to come back to their respective businesses.
Karnik adds further, "15 years ago I took a road trip myself from Delhi to Leh on the same route as I filmed now. That experience was so unique and unmatched that it stayed with me.
I didn't know then that I would eventually make a film on a road trip but now looking back, that experience was so awesome and enriched my life so much. As a film maker, I wanted to chare that same story with others, about the ways and people that left a mark on me.
Our country has so much to offer and life can be so beautiful and so satisfying, that these experiences need to be shared. My approach to life changed after I took the road trip and I believe that I've evolved as a person and film maker too after making Heroes."
