Madhur Bhandarkar's latest release, Fashion has not only opened to packed houses but also to very high critical acclaim. The three time National Award winning director is now definitely hoping to make a record of sorts by winning a fourth National Award, a rare feat by any mainstream Bollywood filmmaker.

When we probed Madhur, his reply was, "I am really keeping my fingers crossed because some of the people who've seen the movie tell me that Fashion is my best work till now.

I believe in making a film with all sincerity, to tell a story as close to real life as possible, a film that should leave a mark somewhere among the audiences. My job ends when the film is made. I don't worry about awards. I'm just leaving it to audiences to decide whether it works or not."

What would you say about the response from within and outside the film industry to your Fashion? "It has been really unbelievable!

The response has been quite an eye opener about the kind of massive interest and admiration this industry commands from audiences all over the world. See my film does not attempt to make a statement on the fashion industry per se. I would like to admit that the whole journey has been very emotional too.

For me, it's a big leap in terms of the concept and the budget because I've never made a mega-budget movie. I've always made a film costing between Rs. 3 - 4 crores." an excited Madhur tells us.

"I always say that I am an experimental filmmaker but my films do get commercial acceptance. I'm very excited by the kind of feedback, messages and calls I'm getting from the UK and the US." Madhur concludes.
