Attitude is Akshaye Khanna's middle name. Replete with I-don't-give-a-damn and to-hell-with-the-world, the actor sauntered in a full four hours late to meet a roomful of scribes who had gathered at a hotel for the promotion of his next release, Deewangee. As cameras whirred and television crews got ready to shoot questions at him, all Khanna junior did was to give a non-plussed look and quipped as several wires got entangled into his T-shirt, "I feel like a patient in an ICU," amid peals of laughter. It took him a while to gather his thoughts together and field questions related to the film, his career and the trends in Bollywood.
But what really got to him were some journos' authoritative statements on his actor-politician father, Vinod Khanna being a non-successful actor. Refuting their rash judgmental assertions, he saw red when the members of the fourth estate insisted on substantiating their claims with facts and figures. He told them in no uncertain terms that he "didn't agree with them." Thereafter, he proceeded to complete the rounds of interviews in a perfunctory manner and would have walked off when some print journalists cornered him for a teté-e-teté. Allowing his mood swings to settle down, he was surprisingly, cooperation personified as he opened up gradually and even laughed and joked with them later.
Hmm... now we know what makes him tick. Apart from the fact that he is a wonderful actor, he is sensitive to a fault. But that is only when someone touches upon subjects that are dear to him – his family for instance. But as long as he continues to deliver, who cares how ‘difficult' he is. Like two male press reporters were overheard commenting in unison on their way out, " We love him just the way he is."
