In face of further threats, the government Of Maharashtra ordered the closure of all Mumbai theatres for Thursday.
Now they have told the theatre owners to do so on today, that's Friday as well. Three films were set for a release today, Rohan Sippy's English film, The President Is Coming, Onir's Sorry Bhai and UTV's Oye Lucky Lucky Oye. Now interestingly each film has met with a different fate even before the actual release.
While Oye Lucky Lucky Oye releases nationwide today, it has been postponed to a Saturday release in Mumbai.
Rohan Sippy has postponed ahead his film's release indefinately whereas, Onir's Sorry Bhai has got court's stay order following a case put up by musician-singer Rabbi Shergill accussing the makers of using his song in their film without his permission.
Bollywood has been facing a financial low what with all so called biggies crashing down and now these attacks have spread widespread panic which may result in a low turnout at the cinema halls.
Manoj Desai owner of the G-7 Multiplex in Bandra that consists of seven cinema houses namely Gaiety, Galaxy, Gemini, Glamour, Gem, Gossip and Grace and Maratha Mandir, Mumbai tells us, "The entire single screens and the multiplexes were closed yesterday (Thursday) and shall remain so today as well because of further fear of terrorist attacks. It is a great loss for us. It will affect our business.
Seeing the terrorist attacks I feel the people will not come to the theatres for further 5-6 days. This will surely affect the collections of new releases this Friday."
Fun Cinema's AVP Programming, Bhoomika Tiwari says, "the operations have been called in for today as of now. We will not open our theatres until further notice or call. This has been done in lieu of the safety of out viewers."
