It seems Bollywood heroes have taken a liking for playing Sikh characters. Akshay Kumar started it with Singh Is Kinng and was followed by Salman Khan in Heroes. Now following their elder brother's footsteps, both
Sohail and Arbaaz Khan shall be seen playing Sikh farmers in Sohail's upcoming co-production with UTV, Kisaan.
Sohail tells us, "Kisaan is a contemporary story about a Sikh farmer's family and is set in North India. Arbaaz and I play brothers in the film. Jackie Shroff plays our father.
A 40-day shooting schedule was
recently wrapped up in Chandigarh. The film is set in rural India and also touches upon the issue of farmer suicide. We are playing hardcore farmers in dhotis.
I had never worn a dhoti before. It's the most
authentic production we've ever done. It's about the new generation of farmers not valuing their land."
Sohail further reveals, "Since Kisaan is an issue based film, I want to take it further to
festivals and exhibitions. I have plans to showcase it in places like Noida, Panvel, Singur where farmers are undergoing these problems."
