Few know that Nandana has been making consistent efforts to bring about child sexual abuse awareness in society.

She has been closely working with UNICEF and UNIFEM and has even played a protagonist in a short film called "Chuppee", directed by madhab pandya to bring about child abuse awareness in society.

The issue of child abuse disturbed Nandana to the extent that she worked for years in Boston and closely interacted with victims of abuse. The actress also ran a teen crisis hotline.

She also enacted the role of the traumatized protagonist in a play, 30 days in September, commissioned by NGO called RAHI (RECOVERYAND HEALING FROM INCEST), written by Mahesh Dattani.
