That's how he recollects his grandfather singer Mukesh, whom he lost much before he born. Neil is using his grandfather's possessions in all his films so that he can always feel Mukesh's presence in Indian cinema.
Very few know that the jacket which Neil wore in his debut film Johnny Gaddar belonged to his grandfather singer Mukesh. And that's not the only thing Neil will be sporting some more possessions in his films.
"Yes in every film of mine I have somewhere used something of his may be his Jacket or pen. That Johnny Jacket which I used in the train sequence was his. In Aa Dekhe Zara I am wearing his watch so there's always
something that I have used in my films. Such strong connection I have with my grandfather." says Neil.
He further explains that as a child he used to tell his grand mother to gift him things from his grandfather's cupboard. "I was extremely close to my grandmother who passed away a couple of months back.
Every Friday and Saturday I used to go upstairs and stay with her but my only condition was that she had to give one thing from my grandfather's cupboard. Now I have a wardrobe which is filled with only my
grandfather's belongings." he reveals.
