"Honestly, without sounding too pompous about myself, I can say that I am confident enough to write, direct as well as act to the best of my abilities in my upcoming films. I enjoy all of them and I don't think that one would suffer because of other", says Farhan Akhtar who would be seen as a lead again in his sister Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance.
He clarifies though that he won't act in a film directed by himself. "I don't want to both act as well direct a film. I want it to be 100% independent of each other.
Also, I don't see any need to write something for myself and then act in it. This is not something that I am even thinking about.
In any case, my first true love is movies. Now whether it is writing, directing or acting is a different matter because at the end of the day, honestly they all fall under the same umbrella. It's about choosing one over the other at any point of time."
With quite a few avenues opening up for him post Rock On, how is he looking at juggling all the work?
"There is certain time management required to play different roles at different point of time", says Farhan, "I am willing to give time and energy to a project and work to the best of my abilities.
For instance look at this film called Kartik Calling Kartik for which I would be shooting in April. It came to me from a new director and I found myself thoroughly enjoying the script when it was narrated to me.
I found it great and I consented to be a part of it. So you know, as long as something challenging keeps coming in, I am game to don a different hat every time."
He says that the best example of destiny driving a project is Luck By Chance.
"Look at the film, it was supposed to be made after I had finished Dil Chahta Hai and seven years later, I was shooting for it as an actor.
So as you see, it was destined that some other actor features in the film instead of all those who were in our earlier wish list. Zoya and I loved the script and we didn't want to tamper it. And well today, we both have finished it together. All such things aren't planned, they just happen", signs off Farhan.
