Heaven On Earth to be released as Videsh in India

The Hindi version of NRI filmmaker Deepa Mehta's Punjabi film "Heaven On Earth", about domestic violence in the immigrant community in Canada and Preity Zinta in the lead role, will release in India as "Videsh".

The film is schedule for March release. It is being released under the B.R. Films' banner.

"We didn't want our Indian audiences to misinterpret the title 'Heaven on Earth' to be an English film. Hence we changed the film's name to 'Videsh' as this would connect well with the Indian audiences, " said Sanjay Bhutian, CEO of BR Films, in a press statement.

"Heaven On Earth" has already garnered a positive response in Canada. While the film has been nominated for best original screenplay at the 24th Genie Awards. Preity has bagged a nomination in the best actress category.

Earlier, Preity received the best actress award at the Chicago film Festival for her performance in the film.
