Noted new-age filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor said he wasn't to explore a new genre every time he embarks on to make
a film.
Kuknoor, who had made movies like ''Hyderabad Blues, ''Iqbal'', ''Rockford'' and ''Dor'', was speaking at a press
conference along with actor Akshay Kumar and Joint Managing Director of Percept Picture Company Shailendra
Singh, in connection with his forthcoming super-natural thriller ''8X10 Tasveer''.
Kuknoor said he always made films, which excite him and although some of his earlier films were close to reality, but
he always maintained that he made fiction.
''I am excited and nervous as ''8X10'' is my biggest movie till date. This is the first time, I have a A-list star like Akshay
Kumar in my film. I knew from the beginning, if I have to make a big budget commercial movie I would need a star so
when my producer suggested Akshay's name I was more than happy.'' Kukunoor added.
He further said the movie was more of a psychological thriller than supernatural as the character of Akshay in the
movie possess kind of psychological ability to go into past of people by seeing their picture.
Kuknoor said he wrote the script five years back. The idea occured to him suddenly when he was looking at a photo.
He wondered that what if somebody can see past lives of the people by just looking at a picture.
The director, who has also acted in some of his movies, replying to a query said in this movie he has only appeared in
a shot, that too because Akshay forced him to.
Mr Singh expressed gratitude to the producer's forum to exclude ''8X10'' from the strike. Now, the movie will be the last
movie to get released before Bollywood producer's proposed strike from April 4, owing to dispute over revenue sharing
with multiplex owners.
