She has been titled as a clear winner in her latest flick Saathiya. Even her cricts have been singing the hosanna for her performance. But clearly it takes more than a good performance to prove that you`re a thorough professional as well. The heroine, who obviously has been dieting enough to make both her front and back disappear, kept the cast and crew waiting for over an hour in Film City for patchwork shooting on Sudhir Mishra`s latest Calcutta Mail.
Not only that, she kept insisting that she was just round the corner and reaching in "another five minutes" every time someone called up to enquire how far she was from the location. Well, good that the mainstream stars don`t throw tantrums when they shoot for directors from the niche cinema but it`s bad enough to keep the rest of the world waiting only because you happen to be earning more.
Sure enough, no explanations are needed or expected when you`re a Rani Mukherjee (and you can breeze in and out as you please) but one does wonder if it`s fair to keep other professionals like your co-stars (in this case Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik) and director waiting only because the film is a small budget one. That has to be the only explanation now, doesn`t it Rani?
