Juhi Chawla will go down in the history of Indian actresses as `the most dropped name` from a legion of films she had been originally signed for. While rejecting offers may not be anything new to actors, be it in Bollywood or Hollywood, in Juhi`s case, it has invariably turns into a controversy.
A mud slinging match between her and film directors has been a natural corollary to a film`s entire schedule of launch and its completion. The actress gets to emote more often when she mouths numerous lines to the press, from "I am doing the film," to "I am not too sure," to "Let`s see... if I can dole out the necessary dates," to finally, "I am not a part of the film,"(during the shoot) to "I regret not doing the film,"(when the film is a super duper hit).
The latest victim of Juhi`s mercurial temper has been director Tanuja Chandra, who wrote the story Vaasta, about a fading actress with, "Juhi in mind," and after dilly dallying for six months, the actress has once again backed out. At the end of it, she is going to cry herself hoarse with stories of how she is almost jobless. A piece of advice to directors – how about a film on the life of a dithering actress who got nothing in terms of work, save of course the royalty from providing a perfect grist to a hit thriller as compensation to her life story.
