Corporate biggie Mahindra and Mahindra's first step in Bollywood was the super dud Sorry Bhai. Mahindra and Mahindra had big plans to enter film production and had reportedly got in talks with Sanjay Gupta to take
over the world rights of his upcoming action thriller Acid Factory. The basic formalities had taken place as well.
Our trade sources inform, "The corporate house's first step was an auspicious one with Sorry Bhai. The film could not even recover 50 percent of their investment. Its loss came as a big blow to them.
The
current recession is already pinching Bollywood and taking a wise step to hold back their film plans, Mahindra and Mahindra has given up the world rights of Acid Factory.
The film produced by Sanjay Gupta
is directed by journalist turned director Suparn Verma. It is a multistarrer having Manoj Bajpai, Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani, Danny and Dia Mirza in a negative role.
The film was ready for a
long time now but with Mahindra n Mahindra excusing themselves them out, it seems the film will have to wait longer to come on screens. As it is corporate backed distribution houses are thinking 10 times before
picking up new films for distribution and offering very less deals all thanks to recession and the unpredictability of the box office.
All the names associated with Acid Factory have not seen box office success for years now. Which makes matters worse for the film to get an immediate buyer at a good rate."
