After 'Slumdog Millionaire', looks like more films are being about the horrendous lives on the Mumbai streets.

A movie called 'Thanks Maa', has bagged two nominations at the prestigious Edinburgh International Film Festival which is one of the world's first international film festivals that started in 1947.

The movie is directed by debutante Irfan Kamal and it depicts the struggle of a 12-year-old street child with a typical street name Municipality, who is on a mission to find the mother of a two days old abandoned baby, with the help of three other friends from the streets.

The well made movie has been nominated for the 'Best New International Feature Award' and director Kamal has been nominated in the 'Skillset New Directors Award' category.

Just like ‘Slumdog Millionaire', the film stars real-life slum children from Mumbai's Ghatkopar area who were trained for the film- Master Shams, Master Salman, Master Fayaaz, Master Jaffer and Baby Almas alongside Ranvir Shorey ( who's done the street film, Madhur Bhandarkar's ‘Corporate' in the past), Barry John, Raghubir Yadav and Alok Nath in key roles.

Well, looks like the janta abroad is more keen on and appreciate India's reality more than anyone else.
