Launch Vehicle
I am debuting with my father Mehul Kumar's film - Krantiveer The Revolution. I play Nana Patekar's and Dimple Kapadia's daughter in the film. My role of a TV reporter requires me to be fierce and strong so it is quite a challenging role. The film is about the youth providing the impetus for a revolution in our country.
Casting Coup
Everybody knew I wanted to be an actor so it wasn't a surprise when my father thought of casting me. When he decided to make a sequel to Krantiveer, he asked me if I would be interested in doing it. Without batting an eyelid, I agreed. It is not a romantic character but it will surely give me a chance to showcase my acting abilities.
Stepping-Stone
I am quite well-versed with the process of filmmaking as I have been on the sets with my dad. I have a fair idea of how things work, so that way I have received hands-on training from my father. Besides, I have also acted as a child artiste in my father's film. I played Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in Kohraam. In fact, I even had a role Krantiveer.
First Shot
I am not camera conscious, so it was relatively easier for me when I gave my first shot. My first shot was at the police station wherein I drag a guy to the station for eve-teasing.
Stumbling Block
I guess my family background helped me get my first film. But being from a film family has its downside too. Being a director's daughter, a lot of people's expectations are riding on me, so I will have to live up to it. The hurdles will begin once the film releases and people assess my performance.
Lessons Learnt
I am still young and I have a lot to learn. But there are no shortcuts to success, you have to work hard and put in your best. It is a completely different world when you are in front of the camera.
Matinee Idol
I have always idolised Madhuri Dixit Nene. She is brilliant on screen and I would love to do Chandramukhi's role in Devdas. I also look up to my father. It's an honour to be working in his film.
Future Projects
Right now I am busy with Krantiveer... and I hope it really works. Let's see what is in store for me!
