Diya Mirza, who began her Bollywood career with glamorous roles, then came Salman Khan with his flambuoyant, heart in sleeve, style but the petite Diya got over him. When we last heard from her she was dating Bunty Sachdev, a producer of sort. And then one of her films, E Niwas' Dum made headlines in most centers. "I don't want to take the credit and call Dum my film since it is out and out Vivek`s (Oberoi) film," she says modestly.
Had her assignments been only with the likes of Mahesh Manjrekar or Tanujaa Chandra it would have ensured sustenance alone but come to think of it, she has been signed on by no less than Khalid Mohammad (despite Fiza being nothing to write home about) and Govind Nihalani for their next ventures. Doesn't that make her hot and happening? "It's flattering to realize that the likes of Mr. Nihalani think that I can deliver," she confesses. Needless to add, she is back in the reckoning for other small but meaningful cinema.
What one can`t fathom is her sudden interest in spirituality or else why would she want to contemplate starting "a chain of schools on the lines of Rishi Valley School near Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh (instituted by the renowned thinker J. Krishnamurti)," she declares rather enigmatically. Are you sure you are on the right track, Diya? For Pete's sake, how about some coherence in your statements, even if you can`t manage the same in your performances?
