There has been a lot of drama in Slumdog Millionaire's star Rubina Ali's life. Residing in a Mumbai slum, the girl became an international figure after doing the film and traveled all around the world to promote the flick.

Once back home, a tragedy struck when her house was demolished by the Indian authorities and she was homeless.

She has since been offered two new homes by the Indian government and a trust set up by Slumdog's filmmakers for her and young co-star Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail.

Now Rubina has decided to write a novel on her life, Slumdog Dreaming: My Journey to the Stars which will be released in the U.K. and U.S. on 16 July (09).

A statement from publishers TransWorld promises, "(Ali) tells her own incredible story, from playing marbles with her friends beside the sewers of Garib Nagar in Mumbai, to dancing along to the Bollywood films she and her family watch on their old television set."
