Shah Rukh, who left for London last Saturday, underwent one-and-half hours of back surgery. "The surgery is totally successful and Shah Rukh will be in the recovery room for three days. He'll then be shifted to a residence. Shah Rukh is a born fighter. He'll bounce back as good as new," says close friend Karan Johar from London.

Since the surgery was performed through the throat region, doctors had warned of the possibility of Shah Rukhs voice being affected for a while. However, hes overcome all medical fears. Shah Rukhs spine had been pressing against his neck. If left untreated, there was a danger of the left side of his body being paralysed. Incidentally, wife Gauri was supposed to be there for the surgery, but backed out because she couldnt bear the tension.
