Weirdass Productions, the production house of renowned stand-up comedian Vir Das, organized India's first ever Ham- ateur Nights. The basic aim of these Ham-ateur Nights is to give an ideal platform for upcoming talents in the field of comedy right from stand up to sketch comedy, from musical to slap stick comedy.

The first Ham-ateur Night took place at Blue Frog, Mumbai. "India has a huge pool of talent as far stand-up comedy is concerned and I hope to be able to discover and nurture these gifted individuals, by giving them a launch pad, " says Vir Das.

Making the Ham-ateur Night extra special was Imran Khan who graced the event with his presence. Being a friend of Vir Das, he was invited to watch the 10 performances as they took place at the Ham-ateur Nights and later even announced a winner. The nights ended at a perfect note with Vir himself doing the closing performance.

Vir Das plans to organise these Ham-ateur Nights across the country to promote the local talent.
