The sarina of teenybopper trilldom is back. And this time, she spreads dollops of her feel-good flair evenly across the album. Falguni, the dandia diva who also moonlights as a fairy godmother in her music videos, offers more of the same pleasant agony aunt treatment in her new album. The one with the endearing vocals makes no attempt to reach the pinnacle of profundity. Yet, Teri Main Prem Deewani has this knack of gently nudging its way into your system.
Lalit Sen`s banter bushel throws up tunes that are easy on the ear. So you have the feeling of laidback ecstasy prevailing over all the track. The kick-off into the breezy realm demands very little of you. Teri main prem deewani is a pining paean that does not go too much over the top. The usual rigmarole of musings notwithstanding, Teri main prem deewani is a jostle in the right direction.
Most other numbers on Side 1 proceed on an even keel, and then comes the speedbreaker. Na Russia na Japan Ki, a pure hybrid between a boring geography lesson and an affirmation of patriotism, has the saucy siren (!) in Falguni taking over. This noisy tweet-nothing endeavour becomes an unpleasant everything-to-worry about woe ride.
Better to give this one a miss, and you had better muster the courage to move on to Side 2, which promises to be shades better.Aayi pardes se pariyon ki rani is the cookie you would want to reach for in the jar. Falguni`s near-pungent-yet-sugary-sweet endearments find instant liking. Nobody prepares you for the generous dose of saccharine that carries you through the album. Yet, the songs are redolent with a folk flavour, which makes for almost a potent combination.
There`s no love lost with this one. Falguni retains her place as sugar-mummy.
