Tabu is no run of mill actress you see daily. She never went into the rat race of number one. She is an avid reader and thinking human being. Last heard, she was meditating in her Yoga classes and Art Of Living course. Recently, she must have shocked quite a few friends though. In fact, she would have certainly offended them, apart from hurting them that is. Did she speak ill of them? Or did she cold shoulder them? Neither.
While talking to a monthly, which she incidentally did after months of her ban- the-Press stand, the talented actress confided that she neither `feels the need to keep in touch with friends" nor does she "miss them." Her new-found interest in philosophy could be because of her close association with painter M F Husain, whose film Meenaxi - A Tale of Three Cities she has just completed and in whom she has found another godfather - the first being filmmaker Gulzar. "I don`t know what purpose it would serve if I am all over the media," she says reacting to the query that she has been off-limits to media. "My films will release and they will be either hits or flops – my being in the public eye won`t affect that."
In the same breath, she goes on, "Madhur and I don`t meet outside the studios, not unless it`s time to discuss a film which obviously I`d do at my place or his. Meghna and I haven`t felt the need to call each other at regular intervals," she explains her position vis avis friends. The buzz about both Bhandarkar`s and Meghna`s next films starring their "most admired actress" should put all speculation to rest.
