A lot of people within Bihar feel Nitish Kumar's government has been projecting an unnecessarily rosy picture of the
State as a place for a newly-revived Utopia for migration and investment.
The truth, feel his opponents, is not quite that heartening.
To counter the sense of unreasonable euphoria Nitish Kumar's friend-turned-opponent Prakash Jha has started a tv
channel in Bihar called Maurya TV.
According the cynics the motive of the channel is to counter the misinformation about law order and politics filtering out
of Bihar.
Prakash completely denies this. "It an infotainment channel devoted and restricted to Bihar. We aren't looking for
footprints outside Bihar. Yes, the focus would be on happenings in Bihar. It will be an independent unbiased channel."
Prakash says Bihar badly needed a channel that represented the State. "The content should be put together in Bihar and
voice the concerns of the state."
The filmmaker, currently in rehearsals with Ranbir Kapoor for his feature film Rajneeti, would not be taking a interest in
the day-to-day running of the channel in Bihar. "Sujit Jha the former bureau chief of Aaj Tak will be looking after my
channel. We want our channel to be as unbiased and we want it to be the language and voice of Bihar."
