A few years back it was Ahmed Khan who was the first to get inspired as he picked up the thread of Snatch for his film Fool N Final. More recently, Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru applied similar story telling in their box office success 99.
A few days back director Pankaj Advani too demonstrated shades of Guy Ritchie storytelling in Sankat City. Now it's the turn of Louis Wilson to tread the same path as he plans to apply similar narrative in his soon-to-get-on-floors film 8 which belongs to horror genre.
"I am going to treat 8 as a stylised horror film", exclaims Louis Wilson who has no qualms in admitting the Guy Ritchie influence on him, "When it comes to style, Guy is the ultimate so why not learn from his craft? The film will have the kind of narrative that he has applied so very successfully in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Revolver, Snatch, Rock N Rolla etc."
It would be interesting to see how Louis would pull it off? After all, the aforementioned Ritchie films were all action thrillers while 8 would belong to horror genre.
"The style quotient can still never go out of vogue though", he reasons, "There is always something new that one can do to a narrative in spite of genre. We would be making 8 purely for multiplex audiences. We want urban youth to be enticed enough to come and watch the film."
Louis Wilson began his Bollywood career with Ho Sakta Hai (2006) that won international recognition. However, it didn't create many ripples in India since it didn't even get a proper release for itself.
Since then he has made two more horror flicks - Kaalo and Lonavala Khandala Ghat - that are about to be released soon. His Shout, which stars Sayali Bhagat, Seema Biswas, Aashish Vidyarthi and Sushant Singh in principal roles, is also being wrapped up.
Now he has been entrusted with the responsibility of directing a flagship project for Percept Picture Company's newly found wing 'PPC Horrotainment'. The production house had earlier announced Grrrr... with Priyadarshan a few months back but that project would now be kick starting after 8."
"It's an honour to be directing the first ever project that has been commissioned by the production house", says Louis, "We would be beginning to shoot for the film starting 1st September."
To be shot primarily in Rajasthan, 8 stars Sameer Dattani in the lead and marks the debut of new find Sheena Nayar.
