"And now it's all come gushing out, " says his emotional mother Alka Suman.
"People are commenting how emotionally he responds to the dramatic scenes, and how convincing he is when he cries. But that's because early in his life Adhyayan lost his brother.
All these years he has kept the grief pentup inside him. It's only now that he's able to articulate what he went through. To lose your sibling, and the grief and guilt that followed were too much for Adhyayan to handle then."
The Sumans are now planning a party to celebrate their son's triumphant performance. "It's time for our own jashnn. We've gone through a lot, and so has our son, " says Shekhar Suman hinting at the trauma of seeing their only son in a relationship they didn't approve of.
Not only that, they watched Adhyayan fritter away his childhood love, a girl from their neighbourhood who had apparently committed herself to Adhyayan from childhood.
The Sumans waited for Adhyayan to get back to his normal life, the neigbourhood sweetheart included, except that she's no more interested in getting back with Adhyayan, not after the way she was treated.
It's now up to Adhyayan to win her back.
In many ways Jashnn has proved cathartic for Adhyayan. He not only relived the trauma of losing his elder brother to a heart disease, he also exorcized the pain of a far more recent heartache.
"Breaking up with Kangna wasn't easy. But it was something I had to do to concentrate on my career. We were just not meant to be, not when my career was just starting off. She wanted to concentrate on her work and I thought that's what I should do too. I was tired of being known as Kangna Ranaut's boyfriend."
All the scenes in Jashnn where Adhyayan is seen asking his screen girlfriend to get out of his life reminded the young actor of his recent breakup.
"No matter what the film's boxoffice performance I'll always be proud of Jashnn. The pain was real, " admits Adhyayan. "Bhatt Saab put me in touch with emotions within myself that I had stored away and never really got a chance to understand.I was 7 when I lost my brother. I was confused. I was unable to follow what was happening."
The Bhatts certainly seem impressed. They've announced another film with Suman Jr. Is Emran Hashmi no more the chosen one at the Bhatts' production house?
