Haasil is not your regular good two shoes story which is soothing to your eyes. Set in the backdrop of University politics, this Jimmy Shergill and Hrishita starrer falls in the genre of a revenge drama. Aniruddha (Jimmy Shergill), a University student and enthusiastic participant in college dramatic, is in love with Niharika (Hrishitaa Bhat), a conservative Thakur girl.

Gauri Shankar (Ashutosh Rana) and Ranvijay Singh (Irfan Khan) are arch rivals and leaders of two political groups with their eyes on presidency of student's union. The rivalry turns intense as Irfan Khan shoots Ashutosh Rana's close associate. Then starts the revenge drama. While rehearsing for one of his shows, Jimmy accidentally bumps into Irfan Khan. Jimmy helps him escape and eventually they become close friends.

The problem for the lovers starts when Hrishita's father, with help from her cousins, catches the couple red-handed. The following day Jimmy shoots one of Hrishita's cousins and escapes to Mumbai. But, soon, Jimmy realises things are not as straight-forward and returns to his hometown only to find that Irfan Khan is about to marry Hrishita.

The rest of the story is all about the struggle of the two lovers to overcome all odds and remain together. Written-directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Haasil has a realistic touch and does impresses in bits and pieces. Power-packed performance by Irfan Khan is a show stealer.

Jimmy Shergill impresses with his performance. Ashutosh Rana and Tinnu Anand and are good. Hrishitaa Bhat plays the coy but confident girl with an aplomb. The dialogues are hard-hitting and keep your eyes open. Jatin-Lalit's manages a decent score for a movie with a revenge theme. All in all, if you are sick of mushy love stories the this film is definitely deserves a dekko.
