Mallika's seventeen hot smooches in Khwahish have made her the talk of tinsletown and now everyone wants to know about this new girl on the block. She was known as Reema Gill and Reema Lamba in Delhi's fashion circles before she took up this new name Mallika Sherawat. No, she is not married and divorced, like most of the people think. "I had a tiff with my dad who was very orthodox and was against my getting into modelling and movies. So I walked out of his life and instead of Lamba, I used my grandmother's maiden name Gill.", she clarifies.

"But because people in this industry can't take anyone's success in their stride, all sorts of shit flows out of their mouth. Tomorrow they'll say I have kids. Let them say whatever they want. I know what I am all about, which is the most important," says Mallika who has now taken Sherawat from her mother's maiden name. So far it makes sense. But why did she further change her name to Mallika Sherawat? "With my Bollywood debut Khwahish, I will start a new life and my director Govind Menon suggested that I go for a new name and end the confusion," says the starlet who's confident that her past name would become a distant memory.
