Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost can be make or break film for Abhishek Bachchan, who is desperately seeking a hit. Produced by Vishal Nihalani and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, it is a story of a remote village in Rajasthan that still doesn't have any electricity. Abhishek is playing the protagonist and starring opposite him is former beauty queen Lara Dutta.
Abhishek bachchan is Kanji, a domestic servant and Lara Dutta is Kaise who is a glamourous village belle and daughter of Thakur. Electricity has recently been introduced into his grandfather's remote village in Rajasthan. Sweet romance blossoms between her and Kanji. Actor Chunkey Pandey also plays an important role in the film.
The rest of the supporting cast may look familiar too. The likes of Aditya Lakhia, Yashpal Sharma, Daya Shankar Pandey and Akhilendra Mishra from Lagaan also feature in the film. Anu Malik composed the movie's soundtrack after doing two-month's worth of research on the musical history of Rajasthan and juxtaposing that with modern arrangement. Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost is a medium budget film, which is being directed by newcomer Apoorva Lakhia, who studied films at New York University and shows heaps of promise for the Indian film industry.
