After 'Hera Pheri' and 'Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar' Priyadarshan makes a comeback with a confusing comedy called Hungama. In addition to the big names like Akshaye Khanna, Aftaab and Paresh Rawal the film also introduces Rimi Sen, much known face on TV. Hungama is the story of one Anjali (Rimi Sen) who comes to Mumbai in search of better life. There she meets Aftab, who is an aspiring candidate of the same cause.
A milkman tells them that they can own a nice house if they pose as husband and wife to the owner. Anjali meets Paresh Rawal for a job, whose wife's name is also Anjali. Akshaye is an electrician and working at Paresh's home. There he meets Anjali and falls in love with her but under the impression that Anjali is Paresh's daughter.
In order to get a job, Anjali repeatedly visits Akshaye during his time of repairs with Paresh. This makes Paresh's wife, also Anjali, think that she is having an affair with her husband. On the other hand Akshaye's frequent visits make Paresh believe that his wife is having an affair with him.
Amidst all this confusion Aftab falls head over heals in love with Anjali (Rimi Sen). To win her over, he feigns having an affair with Paresh's wife but the milkmanĀ“s wife thinks it to be true. How all the characters sort out their entangled lives is the story of Hungama.
