So you thought you had enough of Anand Raj Anand`s rattle-prattle in Indian? He`s back in no time at all with another score. And it shows.A lot of people would like to see this as a typical masala-dossier by David Dhawan. Here Anand keeps his aptitudes as singer and lyricist firmly under check. Or does he? I wonder! Because there is a number Ek ladki deewani si in which the lyrics and vocals are credited to one "Pratik Joseph". I suspect Mr Joseph is none other than our own Mr Anand.
Too ashamed to admit to your crimes, eh? The tunes are pretty shameful , setting as they do, new standards of mediocrity which David Dhawan would find hard to equal in his later works. Lyricist Dev Kohli has a ball writing lyrics for pre-conceived tunes like Ek ladka chahiye khaas-khaas/ Jo ho MA-BA pass pass...Now, that`s pretty crass-crass, wouldn`t you say?
The only thing that makes the rest of the songs special is their audacious inclination. Anuradha Sriram (who sings regularly for David Dhawan`s movies) gets together with Sonu Nigam to rip off Hemant Kumar`s Man dole mera tan dole. It is here called Hai udd gayi re neend. But what`s in a name? To remind us of this mediocre song`s distinguished antecedents, the album even features an instrumental version of the same tune.
Run for cover, when Sadhana Sargam and Poornima battle it out over their sajan who likes to lie. This, I guess was the title song of the film when it was earlier christened Sajan Re Jhooth Mat Bolo. Like it or not, this is all about lies and deception on more levels than one.
We get Abhijeet screaming about the virtues of lies in Kaun kehta hai. By the time he comes to the moral of the tale we are "snore" of one thing. There`s many a sleep between the cop-out and the leap.
