Shekhar Kapur has officially started off ‘Paani' after he went to Chennai to record his first song for ‘Paani'.

The film will start rolling in April 2010. According to Shekhar, since they are at a pre-visualization stage, the song was needed. However, as the city in his film is futuristic, artistes from Los Angeles, Singapore and India are creating it.

Even though the movie will be about a futuristic Mumbai, the sets might be located in Spain, as Shekhar has got a good offer from there. They are interested in the water theme of the film.

Even though Shekhar never thinks about the cast of his film, he is certain he wants an international newcomer to play the female lead of the film while an Indian newcomer will play the male lead.

The movie will be about the girl who lives in the Upper City or the posh area of the city and the boy will be water revolutionary and the film will center on their forbidden love.

Some of the other characters of the film will be the girl's father, who will be the global head of the water company, an Oracle called Amma and another girl, who will be the star of the Upper and Lower City.

Shekhar isn't concerned about the casting at all. He knows it will fall into place once the rest of the things are finalized. He reminisces about how they had finished planning the schedules of his film, Elizabeth, but the lead role and all the other characters were still undecided. But it all went smooth in the end. He knows it will be the same this time too.

‘Paani' will be an English film that will have a Hindi dubbed version. The film will be made in time for the Venice Film Festival of 2011.
