Sonam Kapoor, recently, sprang up a surprise by becoming Santa Claus for 500 Anganwadi kids at a special event held in the city.

The event was organized by NGO Landmark International Foundation for Empowerment (LIFE Trust) in an initiative called ‘Joy in a Box' which aimed to spread the joy of Christmas across the Anganwadis (pre-primary Government -aided nurseries) in Mumbai.

The trust has collected over 2, 000 new educational toys that will benefit over 5, 000 Anganwadi children. Several educational institutions, corporate, toy manufacturers and philanthropists contribute to the effort. The response from the big -hearted Mumbaikars was overwhelming and culminated in a gala Christmas party where the best performing Anganwadis were facilitated.

Besides Sonam Kapoor, the ICDS Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Kumar was also present and was extremely supportive of the work that LIFE Trust has undertaken for the betterment of public school education.
