Forbidden Films, Abhay Deol's production house, is going to start shooting its first film, ‘Basra', in January 2010. The film,
directed by Navdeep Singh (of ‘Manorama– Six Feet Under' fame), will be an action film based on drug racket and human
trafficking.
The lead will be played by Abhay. The film also stars Soniya Mehra (‘Victoria No 203') playing a teenage drug addict who
ends up becoming a victim of human trafficking, Shahana Goswami as a journalist and Nikhil Dwivedi as a cop. Chitrangada
Singh will come in for a guest appearance.
According to sources, Abhay's role, which is that of an undercover cop who exposes the racket, requires him to build his
body for which he has already hit the gym. The movie's base will be in ‘Basra', an Iraqi city which is infamously known for
its drug involvement. The film will be shot in Delhi, Mumbai, Kuwait and Dubai.
Navdeep has confirmed the news. He also adds that they are looking for locations in Iraq to shoot portions of the film in. The
film is expected to release around the end of next year.
