Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was on Sunday appointed Uttar Pradesh's brand ambassador to help improve the state's sagging industrial climate.

Amar Singh, Chairman of the state industrial development council and a family friend of the Bachchans, told reporters here that Amitabh has agreed to be the brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh "so that we can improve the industrial climate of the state."

The members of the industrial development council, comprising the who's who of the corporate world, held a meeting here to chalk out the roadmap for the development of Uttar Pradesh.

Besides Bachchan, the Managing Director of Reliance group Anil Ambani, Chairman of Godrej group Adi Godrej, chief of Sahara Parivar Subrata Roy Sahara and CEO of Hindustan Lever group M S Bagga held a brain-storming session with government officials to chalk out the blueprint of industrial development in the state.
