Post ‘Iqbal' and ‘Dor', however, the talented actor is being seen only in comedy films (‘Apna Saona Money Money', ‘Golmaal Returns').
When asked about him being tagged in comedies only, Shreyas said: "I'm not afraid of getting slotted in comedies as people don't watch my films with pre-conceived expectations."
Meanwhile, Shreyas is crossing his fingers for the release of his first English film ‘The Hangman', which incidentally was his debut film as well. But for some undisclosed reasons, the film's release got stuck up for years.
Now the film is all set to hit the theatres this Friday (Jan 29).
"I play Om Puri's son Ganesh, who's a brilliant student, and hopes to fulfill his parent's wish to be a successful man, " said Shreyas.
‘The Hangman' is a film based on the trauma of a man Shiva (Om Puri) who is subjected to social wrath and hatred because of his profession. Most of the people around him detest him as a result of which he is forced to live a lonely life. His only hope is his son Ganesh (Shreyas Talpade) and Shiva sends him away for higher studies.
As luck would have it, an accident takes place and plagues Shiva's life again. He prepares for a hanging but this one would prove to be like none of the hundred, which he had performed before.
The film is set in the 1970s and deals with the emotional impact of the hangman's profession on the protagonist, his wife and his son.
