"I can now confirm that I am playing the lead role in Lucy Liu's film. Lucy is a wonderful person and I am excited to be working with her. My film is based on a novel called 'Half The Sky' and is one of four short films being directed by four directors, " Tannishtha told over phone from Mumbai.
The four inspirational stories will be based on women from different countries including India, Ethiopia and Cambodia.
"The entire concept is very women-centric and is highly inspirational. My part will be shot in India, " she added.
Asked about her role in the movie, Tannishtha said: "These details are all very confidential at the moment. But I can tell you that it is based on a real life character and a true life story."
The actress says Lucy Liu, who is best known as the cold lawyer in hit TV show "Ally McBeal", will be jetting to India soon to direct the project. But she did not reveal the locations.
"All I can say is that we will be shooting for the project in the first quarter of this year, " she said.
If reports are to be believed, Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie have signed up to take part in the project and will go behind the camera for one project each.
Before the international project goes on the floors, Tannishtha is gearing up to attend the 60th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival where her film "Road Movie" will open the Generation 14Plus competition section.
Directed by Dev Benegal, it also features Abhay Deol and is expected to release in India by the end of February.
