Mandira Bedi, the glamorous face of Indian cricket is all set to do a unique double. Mandira would present the matches live to the UK viewers and also be seen on MAX in a different capacity, the official channel for IPL in India.
Says a visibly elated Mandira, "it is difficult to stay away from IPL. The love and affection you receive from the millions is beyond anybody's imagination. And this time it is a double whammy for me. Not only will I stay connected to my audience on MAX through IPL specials, but also I will be presenting the matches live to over 20 million viewers on ITV".
ITV, the oldest television network in the United Kingdom, has been awarded the exclusive broadcasting rights for DLF-IPL III on its free-to-air service.
UK is the biggest market for cricket outside India and the IPLs is making a concerted effort to reach them through ITV. Interestingly, it is for the first time since 1970s that ITV will show live cricket.
"Presenting cricket to the British – the Mecca of cricket, is something special. Hopefully, I will also be able to contribute in creating a better understanding about India, our people and ofcourse our love for cricket." said Mandira
Mandira Bedi will present the coverage jointly with Matt Smith on ITV. Beyond her passion for cricket, Mandira is also busy with a bit of theatre, brand endorsements. At the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week, Mandira will be walking the ramp to showcase the Satya Paul Collection.
